Special Session on High Performance Parallel and Distributed Data Mining (HPPD-DM 2014) CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION As part of The International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation (HPCS 2014) http://hpcs2014.cisedu.info/ or http://cisedu.us/rp/hpcs14 July 21 – July 25, 2014 The Savoia Hotel Regency Bologna, Italy Extended Submission Deadline: March 30, 2014 Submissions could be for full papers, short papers, poster papers, or posters SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES The HPPD-DM special session focuses on the issues of high performance, distributed and parallel computation in the process of knowledge discovery from large databases. Theoretical advances, algorithm and systems, as well as application cases are welcome contributions. Over the years the definition of high performance computing evolved according to the opportunities provided by new technologies and to the needs of the emerging industrial and scientific applications. High performance computing research topics range from traditional parallel and distributed algorithms, to modern multi-core CPU architectures, streaming GPUs, cloud computing, etc. Nowadays, high performance computing is a necessary support for the analysis of very large volumes of possibly distributed data, such as those generated by scientific application or Web x.0 services. The HPPD-DM special session aims at presenting new and original contributions focusing on application of high performance parallel and distributed data mining, including distributed, parallel, P2P and data intensive algorithms and systems. We wish to invite papers tackling the performance issues of data mining algorithm at all levels of the system architecture: I/O, memory bottlenecks, processor-level parallelism as well as distributed/parallel computation. The HPPD-DM Session topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
PAPER SUBMISSIONS You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to high performance parallel and distributed data mining. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Submission should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author and include up to 6 keywords from the above list of topics and an abstract of no more than 400 words. The full manuscript should be at most 8 pages using the two-column IEEE format. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and posters (please refer to http://hpcs2014.cisedu.info/home/posters for the posters submission details) will also be accepted for submission. Please include page numbers on all submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments. Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript to the Special Session paper submission site https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hppddm2014. Acknowledgement will be sent within 48 hours of submission. Only PDF files will be accepted. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, contributions, technical clarity and presentation. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be registered and presented at the special session. Proceedings Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the HPCS 2014 web site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard and soft copies and be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is to be published as ISBN proceedings by the IEEE and will be available online through IEEE Digital Library and indexed by major indexing services accordingly (e.g., DBLP, EI indexing). If you have any questions about paper submission or the special session, please contact the Special Session organizers.
